I have tried just about every machine shop in Rockford, And Dave Carter has the experience needed. He's done cylinder heads, balanced & bored out motors for me as well as assemble them. I've never had a problem, miss understanding or anything and I Highly recommend DC for any machine work. Very fussy!

I hired DC Machine to replace a couple of bent valves on a VW cylinder head. When I went back to check on it I was told that "his guy" had torn the whole head down and didn't do what we agreed to. He then claimed it needed almost every valve. Only cylinder 4 had low compression before they checked the head. I let him do the job the way he wanted. The car made it through a test drive and was returned to the owner. I got a call the next day about the car having died and won't run. It was found that one of the valves, they replaced, had dropped into #1 cylinder. The car made it less than 20 miles. DC Machine claimed to have no responsibility for this, and that he doesn't have insurance. An insurance inspector from my insurer found that the new valve had broken just below the keeper. DC Machine still claims no responsibility, and won't give the name of the valve manufacture .so I can contact them. I lost a long time customer and now have to pay much higher insurance for something that was not my fault. DC Machine might have good machining, but doesn't back it. I'd be careful trusting this machine shop.

I would have had a $900 paperweight if D C didn’t flatten & machine my warped custom oil pan! I drove all over the Rockford/Belvidere area and they were the only ones who would even consider tackling it. It’s a very tricky design to work with, but they did a superb job. I highly recommend them!
